The Best Place To Chill at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol For a Long Layover

The Best Place To Chill at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol For a Long Layover

I had a verrrrrry long and challenging 3 hour layover in Paris due to the overly extreme amount of travelers to the 10,000th power! Never in my life had I seen so many people standing in such long lines while going through security and immigration.. OMG! My patience was being tested for sure! I was too irritated to even take a picture of all of the people who were standing in more than 6 rows of lines that stretched from the customs and security zone, all the way down to the long airport corridors. (We all looked like a pack of a million ants!) The line did not seem to move much at first, but when it did finally get moving, it went by faster than I expected. I felt my irritability and tolerance level go up once I finally reached security and immigration, as it was a very smooth process…And surprisingly, I didn’t even miss my flight!

My Second International Trip-Here We Goooo!

For my second international trip, I made plans to fly out of Chicago O’ Hare airport.

I arrived in Chicago 1 day before departing to my final destination- because the way my flight schedule was set up, it would have only given me 3 hours to get from Chicago Union Station (train staion) to Chicago O’Hare airport.

With Chicago being so big, I felt that by leaving a day ahead of time, I would avoid rushing to get to the airport, and any other inconveniences that may occur within that 3 hour time frame.

The Best Place To Chill at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol For a Long Layover

Thank youuuuuuuuu Amsterdam!!!

Located on the bottom level in a basement-like area, lies Gates C21-24. Equipped with 8 tall desks, each with its own power outlet, you will most certainly appreciate this private and secluded area-as it is away from all of the airport hustle and bustle.

Here you can eat, sleep, or lounge on one of the cushiony sofas, watch the airplanes arrive and depart, get some online work done, or just chill or browse the web.

Aaaand, the snack machine and bathrooms are close by…

It is so peaceful down here!

(I was even able to clear my aura, and get back into my Zen mindset, by listening to a couple of my favorite chakra frequency music on YouTube.)

After Paris, I seriously needed to stay away from crowds as much as I could help it!

I ventured out into the mall to buy a European travel adapter, came back, and stayed at Gates 21-24 for more than half of my 21 hour layover!

When I arrived at this workstation, there were only 4 people occupying this area. 2 were working in separate workstations, 1 in the very back corner (looks like they were getting time away from everyone as well) and 1 was asleep on the lounge sofa. The few people that briefly came to the area to chill did not stay for more than 30 minutes.

After a few hours, as passengers were coming down to board, it got a bit noisy, so I relocated to the benches in the front area towards the entrance of Gates C21-24. In this area, I finished charging my phone and Chromebook, and video chatted with my family and friends. About an hour or so later, all was calm. I peeped back in, and there was not a soul in sight-I had the whole area to myself!

I worked on my laptop until midnight, then headed off to Schiphol Amsterdam Airport 24-hour Starbucks! After cake and coffee at Starbucks, I felt re-energized, took a stroll through the airport mall, and found another quiet spot-it was very nice, but not as peaceful as Gates C21-24. I stayed there for a few hours, then headed back down to my favorite secluded spot, until my scheduled departure time.

If you have a long layover in Amsterdam, with no plans on leaving the airport to book a hotel stay, or explore the city, head on over to Gates C21-24!

doei voor nu (bye for now)
