12 Simple Ways To Save You Money When Booking Your Flight Tickets-For First Time Travelers

If the cost of buying a plane ticket is keeping you from traveling abroad, worry no more!

-I have some simple solutions that you can use right now-

12 Simple Ways To Save You Money When Booking Your Flight Tickets-For First Time Travelers

1. Put your plane tickets on layaway

Yes! You read that right! You can actually put your airplane ticket on layaway through a company called airfordable. Pay a fraction of the cost of your plane ticket upfront, pick your payment options, and then pay the rest in installments. Airfordable does not provide services based on your credit, and is your no more excuses not to travel solution.

2. Purchase your tickets and book your travels on a Tuesday or Wednesday

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are said to be the cheapest days to travel and book your flights to and from anywhere in the world. This is mainly due to traveling being less busy during mid-week.

3. Buy a one way ticket first, and return ticket on a later date

This is good to do if you can’t pay full price right away, and know for sure that you will be able to pay the other half on a later date. You can also choose to use this option when one-way fares to select destinations are running super cheap.

Make sure that you don’t wait too long to purchase your return ticket, and that the dates and times are in sync with your departure ticket-then you will be good to go! I also use this method when traveling with Amtrak or Megabus.

4. Make payments with Affirm

CheapOair, American Airlines, Priceline, Justfly, asap tickets, and OneTravel, all offer payment plans through a financing company called Affirm. I highly recommend Affirm, because they always provide a smooth and user-friendly buy now pay later process.

5. Purchase your ticket with your credit card

Most seasoned travelers utilize their credit cards for flight purchases. Not only will you not have to pay out-of-pocket for your plane tickets, but you will also be able to accumulate points from certain credit card companies. These accumulated points will eventually lead to discounts on your future travels.

6. Sign up for subscription travel services

For a low monthly or yearly payment, the two companies below, will do all of the travel hacking for you by finding you cheap flights. So if you don't have time to do your own research, you should look into joining one of these programs.

7. Do your own extensive flight comparison research

If you are new to travel booking sites, or are used to using the same airline every time you travel, start doing your own research through different travel sites such as Google Flights, Priceline, Kayak, Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, Justfly, Skyscanner, Hotwire, and Booking.com.

Once you become more familiar with how these travel sites operate, you will most likely find one or two that you favor. Currently, my favorite sites for flight deals are Skyscanner, Justfly, and asap tickets.

Select airlines do run specials directly on their website, so it pays to do your research all across the board.

8. Book your flights from an out of city/state international airport

Since setting up base in in Arkansas, I have learned that I will always get the best rates, if I fly out of Dallas, or Chicago. By doing this just recently, I have saved $500.00.

According to a study done by Scott’s Cheap Flights, the following airports have the best flight deals':

(Find an international airport that is a couple of hours away in flight distance from where you reside, or a few hours via car, bus, or train.)

.Chicago O’ Hare

.Los Angeles-LAX

.Ft, Lauderdale-Hollywood, Fl

.Miami International Airport

.Orlando

.Newark Liberty

.Boston Logan

.San Francisco

.John F. Kennedy International

.Washington Dulles

9. Split your mode of transportation up when departing from an out of town airport- Car, Amtrak, and/or Greyhound

When departing from an airport that is out of city or state, determine which mode of transportation cost the least.

Add these costs to your discounted plane ticket, and see which one would save you the most money.

10. Sign up for free price drops, deals, and travel alerts

Justfly always sends me deal alerts every Tuesday. One time, I booked a one-way trip from Houston, Texas to Florida for only $53.00. Although I had to cancel my trip, I was able to do so without losing a lot of money. Depending on your departure and destination, you can find flight deals for as low as $35.00 with Justfly.

11. Check out rome2rio and hopper

A couple of awesome apps to look into to save on your flights are-

12. Call and talk to traveling customer service reps

If you are seeking a personalised travel planning experience, call the toll-free number listed on the traveling website that you intend on using to book your flight .

By contacting a customer service representative, you will be able to actually speak to a human 24/7, receive lower and better price options, last minute flight deals, and have an on-going point of contact via phone and e-mail. If anything were to change or disrupt your traveling plans, you will be able to contact the same agent who helped book your flight.

Having a personal traveling agent through asap tickets for my first international trip, definitely made for a smooth booking process and experience.
