Tasting Coffee from Sierra Sur de Oaxaca, Mexico
Upon opening, the Mexican coffee grounds did not seem as potent as the coffee packages I have received from other countries.
However, after preparing it in the familiar ‘drip coffee’ style, my kitchen was soon filled with the rich, comforting aroma I love to wake up to each morning.
I ordered the largest bag, something I hadn’t done since becoming a member of the Atlas Coffee Club — and I really like this size!
My First Impression
My first taste and aroma experience of coffee from Sierra Sur de Oaxaca, Mexico slightly reminded me of the Brazilian coffee that I received from Atlas Coffee Club-though the smell and taste was not as intense or sweet and carried a more subtle, earthy finish.
I found myself wanting to add sugar ( I added brown sugar) and creamer right away, which is something I usually do not do with coffee from Atlas Coffee Subscription.
Also, even though I requested extra dark roast, it was not that strong. However, I definitely noticed the rich dark chocolate notes.
Final Thoughts
My Mexican coffee taste fresh and subtle—beautifully poised between lively acidity and gentle sweetness.
It seems like you would definitely be able to tweak Mexican coffee in many ways, since it has a balanced, middle-ground taste that adapts well to different brewing methods and additions.
