My Coffee Passport from Atlas Coffee Club

My love for coffee was first ignited by a Nigerian co‑worker named Ade, who introduced me to strong, comforting cups during those bleary early‑morning nursing shifts when I was just starting out.

I was not a morning person at all! On that first day, while assisting patients and struggling to adjust to my new work schedule, he handed me a cup and said, “You know, nurses can pour themselves a cup of coffee too — I think it will help you get through these early morning shifts” . (I had to wake up at 4 a.m. to be at work by 6 am, and that ritual of a warm cup of coffee before and during my shift, made a real difference.)

I’ve been hooked on coffee ever since! But it’s not just about staying alert and moving. I also enjoy sipping coffee slowly for morning and evening relaxation, and as a pleasant social ritual.

After being introduced to authentic coffee by my paternal father, I stopped drinking popular unauthentic commercial coffee’s and continue to keep specialty coffee on rotation at home.

Before I got hooked on Cafe Bustelo, (which is my favorite coffee hands down- I have to have it in my kitchen at all times) I used to go coffee shopping at Big Lots. Big Lots used to have a lot of imported specialty coffee that I did not see at any other stores.

While shopping with my father, I learned about whole coffee beans as I watched him pick and grind them.

While living in Corpus Christ, Texas on the islands, I ditched coffee makers after discovering that the drip method provided an even better authentic coffee taste.

I am always craving authenticity!

When moving back to Houston, Texas, preparing for international travel, I somehow came across Atlas Coffee Club Subscription online.

Their slogan ‘Travel the world through coffee’ immediately caught my attention, because of my love for coffee and traveling-my two loves coming together as one!

By traveling the world through coffee, I have been to 8 countries. Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Mexico, Vietnam, Colombia, and Brazil.

When traveling the world through coffee, you not only get to enjoy delicious authentic coffee from small and local coffee farms around the world, you are participating in above fair trade practices, farmer sustainability, protection of coffee quality and harvests, and equipment.

If you are a coffee fanatic like me, you are interested in the whole coffee process from beginning to end, and do not just drink any ole’ coffee-unless you temporarily have to! Coffee is not just fuel for the day, but an everyday lifestyle and sensory experience-whether the experience and lifestyle is solo, engagement, social, or business.

Joining an Atlas Coffee Club subscription also gives you insight into the history behind the countries, offering interesting context you can explore further through your own research.

You also receive a postcard tucked inside every coffee delivery box, which you can send to friends, family, or co-workers—making it fun to pretend you’re traveling the world and mailing greetings from these unique countries.

You may even get so immersed in a particular coffee that will inspire you to want to take a trip to physically visit, tour, and explore the country where coffee spoke to you. ( Burundi really resonated with me.) Tasting coffee from different countries will make you want to explore the world even more, perhaps even inspiring you to plan your very first coffee farm tour to see where those flavors begin.🙋🏽‍♀️
